Down, down, and dirty with it!
To shove oneself in mud seems like something only a crazy person would do. But in the Boryeong Mud Festival, my friends and I did exactly this! The sand of the Daeachon beach in Korea is rich in minerals and is actually good for the skin as it exfoliates and clears away old and dead skin cells. Getting “dirty” never felt so good.
In addition, mud cosmetics and massages are available. These help prevent skin aging. Mud may help tighten the skin and make it more firm.
The lure of the mud festival is not so much the “dirt” that is good for the skin. What attracts people is the activities that can only be enjoyed while covered in mud – mud wrestling, bathing, skiing, sliding, There is also the famous but difficult “mud challenge that involves a series of tasks to be accomplished while completely covered in mud.
